Shannon Golf Club was the venue for the European Men’s Senior Team Championship from 12th – 18th August 2008. In excess of 25,000 club members from every golf club in Ireland set out to win one of the five sets of medals on offer. Only the Provincial Champions in the Irish Senior Cup, Barton Shield, Irish Junior Cup, Jimmy Bruen Shield and Pierce Purcell Shield compete over the three days. If you love the game of golf then a visit to the Cups & Shiels Finals is a must to see the excitement and outrageous exploits of commitment to the clubs in the finals can be experienced.

Shannon is a highly rated parkland championship course incorporating plenty of water hazards, bunkers and tree-lined fairways and the length they have made the holes provides a stern test for even the longest of hitters.  The course has been, graced by Ballesteros, Norman, Faldo, Lyle, Langer and Ryder Cup Hero, Christy O’Connor Jnr., was once the professional here.

Its feature hole has to be the 17th, a 224-yard, par 3, which has a 185-yard carry over the Shannon Estuary.  You are assured of a warm welcome here.

The Ladies of Shannon Golf Club reached the All-Ireland Semi-Finals of the Women’s Minor Foursomes on Friday 20st September 2024 at Shannon Golf Club when they lost out to the Ladies from Courtown Golf Club by 2½-matches to 1½-matches. They were led out by Pauline Nally with Dee O'Connell who had a convincing 5 and 4 win against Mary O'Connor with Elaine Fitzgerald, next on the tee was Sandra Ferguson with Maire O'Donnell who lost their match by 3 and 1 against Kate Sheehan with Ann O'Shaughnessy, in the penultimate match Ann Gordon with Dympna O'Callaghan lost out to Mary Cooper with Margaret Dooley by 4 and 2 and the bottom match of Joan Hoctor with Mary Fitzgibbon was halved against Tina Smith with Gay Gahon.
They played the Ladies from Monkstown Golf Club in the All-Ireland Quarter-Finals at the same venue on Friday 6th September and recorded a 3½-matches to ½-match win against the Co. Cork Club. Pauline Nally with Dee O'Connell put the first points on the board with a 2-hole win against Gillian Lynch with Linda O'Sullivan, they were followed by Sandra Ferguson with Marie O'Donnell had a convincing 5 and 4 win against Trish Mackey with Sandra Holland, in the penultimate match Ann Gordon with Carmel Mc Mahon halved their match against Deirdre Burns with Marie Ruby and the bottom match Joan Hoctor with Mary Fitzgibbon had a 3 and 2 win against Ann Mackesy with Linda Lynch.

Shannon Golf Club were the Runners-Up in the Quarter Finals of the Jimmy Bruen Shield on Sunday 3rd September 2023 at Doneraile Golf Club when they lost out to Gowran Park Golf Club by 3-matches to 2-matches.
In the top match Patrick J. Mooney with Georgie Pyke won their match by 3 and 2 against Hughie O Shaughnessy with Diarmuid Alyward, they were followed by Murty O'Donoghue with Kieran Boland who lost their match by a similar margin against Joe Forristal with Conor Lynch, next on the tee was Mike Brougham with David Doran Jnr. who wen down by 7 and 6 against James Hurley with Joe Colclough, in the penultimate match Alan Small with Kevin Meehan had a 3 and 2 win against Patrick O'Keeffe with David Kearney and in the bottom match Pat McHugh with Fintan Ward went up the 19th before relinquishing the point and the match to Ger Tracey with Adam Holden.       
Shannon Golf Club won the Final of the West Munster Jimmy Bruen Shield on Sunday 6th August 2023 at Limerick Golf Club when they beat Kenmare Golf Club by 4-matches to 1-match.

They were led out by Brian Punch with Áine Twomey who lost their match against Colin Shiels with Siobhan Rogan by 2 and 1, they were followed by Fintan Ward with Jane Kennedy who halved their match against Dan Murphy with Anita O'Neill, next on the tee was Michael Keyes with Suzanne McMahon who lost by 2 and 1 against Philip Smith with Emma Collins, in the penultimate match John O'Connell with Sandra Ferguson went down by 6 and 5 against Niall Sullivan with Niamh Clarke and the bottom match of William O'Brien with Michelle Pyke was recorded as a halve against Paul O'Connor with Jenny Murray.

In the top match David Richardson with Carmel Regan won their match against Ger Treacy with Helena McCormack by 2 and 1, they were followed by Thomas Nelson  with Aíne Twomey lost their match by 3 and 1 against Joe Colclough with Judy Dick, next on the tee was William O’Brien with Michelle Pyke who had a 1-hole win against Mathew Hanrahan with Aisling Costello, in the penultimate match Michael Keyes with Suzanne McMahon recorded a very convincing 7 and 6 win against Jim Walsh with Rachel Dick and in the bottom match between Fintan Ward with Jane Kennedy against Joe Forristal with Orla McCormack was halved when called-in.Shannon Golf Club won the Final of the West Munster Irish Mixed Foursomes on Saturday 22th July 2023 at Kenmare Golf Club when they beat Berehaven Golf Club by 3-matches to 2-matchs.Shannon Golf Club won the J.B. Carr Diamond Trophy at Woodenbridge Golf Club on September 4th 2022. They beat Leinster Champions Royal Curragh Golf Club in the All-Ireland decider and Ulster Champions Dunmurry Golf Club in the Semi-Final on the Saturday.

Donnacha Halpin was selected on the Munster Under-14 team to participate in the Interprovincial Championships at Hilton Templepatrick Golf Club from 18th and 19st July 2022, the others on the squad were was Oran Barrett (Cork Golf Club), Darragh Nolan (Fermoy Golf Club), Anthony Hayes (Dungarvan Golf Club), Justin Dennehy (Douglas Golf Club) and Cian McDonnell (Monkstown Golf Club) the non-travelling reserve was Ronan Dawson (Tramore Golf Club) they were managed by Des Molyneaux from Ballybunion Golf Club and captained by Frank O Mahony from Limerick Golf Club.

Moroney, Pat Cotter, Jim Corr, Robert Flynn, Michael Deasy, John Culleton, Jim McNamara, Michael Deegan, Michael Corry, Tom Reidy, Andrew Drysdale, Don Fitzgerald, Eamon Fanneran, Michael McInerney, Gerry O’Reilly, Oliver Doherty, Eugene Logan and Noel Morgan.

Heather Nolan was selected on the Irish Junior Girls team competing in the European Lady Junior Team Championship in Moscow in July 2002. She was on the Munster Girls' team in the Smurfit Interprovincial Championship at Enniscrone Golf Club from the 18th to the 20th of April 2001.
A. Jones qualified for the National Finals of the Irish Times-Mitsubishi Motors Women's Masters. She returned 32 points in the semi-final at Glasson Golf Hotel & Country Club on the 23rd of August 2001. Then it was on to Galway Bay Golf & Country Club for the Final on 13th September.

Shannon Golf Club won the Munster Final of the Pierce Purcell Shield in 1996, when the team was Harry Shally, Brian Quinn, Gerry Breen, Thomas McMahon, Alan Leahy, Michael Deasy, Martin Purtill, Ger O’Shea, Noel Morgan, John Culleton, Chris Harrigan, Jimmy O’Brien, Richie Whelan, Darren Keane, Eugene Logan, Christy Sherlock, Des McDonnell and Joe McGrath, they were captained by Denis O’Gorman.

They won the Munster Final of the Jimmy Bruen  Shield in 1994 when the team was Tommy Aghir, Seamus Doyle, Jim Corr, Gary Purtill, Gerry O’Reilly, John Jones, Gerry Sweeney, Tony Keane, Niall McMahon, Lawy Halpin Jnr. Brian Power, Don Fitzgerald, Dennis O’Brien, Tony Reidy, Lwey Halpin Snr. Jim O’Brien and Noel Morgan, they were managed by Mick McInerny.

The Ladies of Shannon won the Intermediate League in 1997, when the team was Eileen McNamara, Ann Jones, Margaret Hope, Trrish Taylor, Liz O’Shea and they were captained by Joan Green. 

C. Moylan was elected to the council of the Munster Branch of the GUI for 2001.

16-year old Heather Nolan, was selected on the ILGU Senior B squad in November, 2000 and she was on the Irish Girls' team for the Home Internationals at Downfield G. C., Dundee, from 15th to the 17th August, 2000. She has to be an inspiration to all young girls taking up this wonderful game. In only her second year playing, having started with a handicap of 30, she in now down to 6 (at time of writing). She won the Ulster Championship at Bangor G. C. when accounting for Michelle Holmes in the final. Then on to Mount Wolseley for the Leinster title, where she beat Louise Murphy in the decider. Heather was two under par when the match concluded.

Members who played representative golf for their Province;

C. Moylan represented Munster at Youths’ Interprovincial level in 1978 playing 4-times won 3-matches and lost 1-match accumulating 6-points;

Paul O’Neill represented Munster in the Boys' Interprovincial Championships in 2009 playing 6-times won 4-matches and lost 2-matches accumulating 8-points;

Jamie O’Shea played for Munster in the inaugural Boys' under-15 Interprovincial Championships in 2010, playing 3-matches won 0-matches and lost 3-matches accumulating 0-points;
