West Waterford golf club Waterford

West Waterford Golf Course

The West Waterford Golf Club is built on 150 acres of rolling parkland on the banks of the, Brickey river with a backdrop to the Comeragh Mountains to the east, the Knockmealdowns to the north and Drum Hills to the south. An interesting feature of the front nine holes are laid out on a large plateau featuring a lovely stream which comes into play at the 3rd and 4th holes. The Brickey river transverses the southern boundary and features the 2nd, 12th, 14th, 15th and 16th holes which makes these very challenging golf holes.
An idyllic rural setting makes West Waterford one of the most peaceful golf courses you’ll ever play. Designed by Eddie Hackett, visitors will be treated to a course that lets the natural landscape do the talking – and here, just a couple of miles outside Dungarvan, the volume has been turned up pretty loud. Staying true to what nature provided was one of Hackett’s key philosophies and it delivers one of the south east’s most relaxing and enjoyable rounds of golf.
"Ireland’s Top ten hidden gems"
The beautiful split-level clubhouse was built to accommodate all visiting golfers where a new golfing experience and a wonderful welcome awaits all.

History of West Waterford
In 1990, Pat and Nora Spratt decided to sacrifice 150 acres of their farm, to create a magnificent golf course in the tranquil setting, that is now West Waterford Golf & Country Club. Thankfully they had the good foresight not to try a do-it-yourself development and they called on the services of Eddie Hackett one of Irelands best known and much respected course architects. The result of their foresight is now to be seen at this fine course which opened for play in 1993 and are now producing some of the finest young golfers in the region.
A good friend of mine Mick Healy communally known as Dublin Mick, was born on the land that was formally a convent and his grandfather was the gamekeeper.
