Mannan Castle golf club Monaghan
Mannan Castle Golf Course
This relatively new Parkland course originally opened as an, 9-hole course but due to the commitment of the active committees since its inception in 1993 this course has developed into a fine 18-hole course.
Mannan Castle Golf Club has a magnificent clubhouse where the visitor is provided with all he or she can require. This course is somewhat difficult to find once you have left Carrickmacross, town so allow yourself plenty of time before your tee time.
The club has just opened a 10-bay driving range across the road from the clubhouse.

History of Mannan Castle
The club was conceived within the Donaghmoyne Golf Society whose members Michael McBride (the 2011 Club President) and Canon McGreevy had the foresight to see that a golf club was possible in this country parish. They got verbal agreement from Pat Carragher to lease land and enlisted Sean Crawley, Owen Roe O’Neill and Ray Howell to further the development. In 1991 an information meeting was called and two hundred and thirty people attended. The idea was to get buy-in from founding members and the money could then be used with the initial development. The entry levy was €600 which raised €133,000 over the next couple of weeks. Work then began in February 1992.
The year 2000 saw us expand the course into 18 holes. We purchased land from Brian Rooney to develop an additional 5 holes with the original Pat Carragher portion having room for another 4. We opened our purpose-built clubhouse in 2001 which included a combined dining and bar area, a separate bar, and ladies and gents changing areas.
2006 saw us opening the driving range with automated tees.
In 2009 we developed a chipping area adjacent to the clubhouse.
Our first professional golfer, Kevin McGivern, joined the club on the 1st May 2010, 17 years after we played our first competitive competition.
2011 saw the opening of a 6-hole Pitch & Putt facility and a new putting green and chipping area to compliment our current putting green.
