Black Bush Club Crest

Black Bush Golf Club was founded in 1987 and designed by the Late Bobby Browne the resident Professional at Laytown & Bettystown who has served as Secretary of the Irish PGA for many years.

Black Bush Golf Club is a magnificent 27-hole complex, giving the golfer a choice of playing three different 18-holes or 9-holes whichever he or she desires. Each course has its own charm and character all within this pleasant Parkland setting. The course matured rapidly and now features tree lined fairways with undulating sand based greens, combine with lengthy holes and the occasional water hazard, add up to a challenging round of golf for the keen players but is also a fair test of golf for the novice. The complex has excellent catering and bar facilities, suitable for conferences and large groups.

Shane O'Grady maintains a fully equipped Professional shop and welcomes green fees and societies, insatiately Shane has had 10-holes-in-one in competition. Anyone beat that?

In a thrilling Semi-Final Liam McKay and Tony Cotter were drawn against Eamon Tavey and Paddy King when they clinched the first point for Black Bush on the 18th by 1-hole. In the 2nd match Daire Foran and Pat Kelly were drawn against Michael Fee and Martin Rafter their match went all the way to the 20th hole before they relinquished the point to Castleblayney. Pat Connolly and Seamus Morrison were 3rd out against Noel Flanagan and Martin Moore and they delivered the 2nd point with a 2 and 1 victory. Tom Finn and Terry Moore were out against Joe Quinn and Brian Coleman who were on top of their game and delivered a 4 and 3 win to the Ulster Champions. So it was all down to the anchor match of John Donnelly and Kieran Dunne against Eamon Toal and Francis Murphy, this match went down to the wire and was only lost on the 18th by 1-hole.How near but yet so far considering that Castleblayney went on the win the All-Ireland Pierce Purcell Shield the following day against Munster Champions Castletroy Golf Club.
