Carton House Montgomerie Golf Course
Opened in May 2002, Carton House golf club retained the services of two of the Worlds best known, golfers to design the two magnificent layouts at Carton House in Maynooth. The project was developed by Sporting Concepts Ireland in conjunction with European Golf Design.
Together they have added another two "jewels in the crown" of Ireland’s growing number of premier Irish Golf Clubs with in easy access of Dublin City.
The O’Meara course tastefully used the tree lined terrain that existed at the Carton House golf course, with some of the most spectacular holes to be found anywhere resulting from careful planning and attention to detail by Carton House golf.
The Montgomerie Course, has been designed as a more open landscape, measuring 7,301 yd‘s the course has a links feel, with deep, strategically placed pot bunkers, well contoured fairways and large undulating greens. The golfer will frequently catch views of the Rye Water Lake as he/she enjoys a memorable game of golf at the Carton House golf course.
The Montgomerie is synonymous with quality, and his unique and keen understanding of golf will ensure that the course that bears his name is indeed a masterpiece.

The Girls’ from Carton House Golf Club won the Underage All-Ireland Final at Warrenpoint Golf Club on Wednesday 21st August 2024. The team on the day was Alex Cunningham (18) Ellen Campion (11) and Aoife Lyons (23) with a total of 71 Stableford Points. The Girls’ from Co. Louth Golf Club came second with a similar score but Carton House won it on the best card.
The Ladies of Carton House Golf Club reached the All-Ireland Quarter-Finals of the Women’s Senior Foursomes when they lost out to Naas Golf Club 2½-matches to ½-match at Carlow Golf Club on Friday 30st August 2024. The top match Amelie Cunningham with Philippa Lynch lost their match by 3 and 2 against Suzie Hayes with Mary Flahavan, they were followed by Lauren Dancis with Susan O'Connor who went down by 7 and 5 against Paula Murray with Ann Hughes and the bottom match of Jessica Ross with Anne Crofton was halved against Patricia Cronin with Elaenor Brazill.
Keith Egan was selected on the Leinster Interprovincial team played at PGA Slieve Rusell Golf Club from 3rd to 5th July 2024. Others on the team were Jake Whelan (Grange Golf Club), Gerard Dunne and Evan Farrell (Co. Louth Golf Club), Brian Doran (Millicent Golf Club), Eoin Murphy (Dundalk Golf Club), Adam Smith (Mullingar Golf Club) and Paul Coughlan (Castleknock Golf Club) they were managed by Ian Mooney from Wicklow Golf Club and captained by Harry McAlinden from Bray Golf Club.
Darragh Flynn was selected on the Munster Interprovincial team played at PGA Slieve Rusell Golf Club from 3rd to 5th July 2024. Carton House Golf Club were Runners-Up in the All-Ireland Final of the Barton Shield at Dun Laoghaire Golf Club on Friday 8th September 2023 when they lost out to Lisburn Golf Club by 1-hole.
In the top match Keith Egan with David Shiel had a 1-hole win against Chris Moulds with James Mulholland and in the bottom match Marc Boucher with Paul O'Hanlon went down by 2-holes against Aaron Marshall with Ryan Symington.
They beat Galway Golf Club by 8-holes in the All-Ireland Semi-Finals the previous afternoon when Keith Egan with David Shiel had a 4-hole win against Stephen Brady with Eoin Power and in the bottom match, Marc Boucher with Paul O'Hanlon had a similar result against Liam Nolan with Dave Cunningham.
They came up against Fota Island Golf Club in the All-Ireland Quarter-Final in the morning and recorded a 7-hole win against the Cork Club. Keith Egan with David Shiel led them out and won by 2-holes against Sean Barry with John Doyle and in the bottom match Marc Boucher with Paul O'Hanlon had a 5-hole win against Keith Crowley with David Howard.
Carton House Golf Club won the Regional Final of the Leinster South Barton Shield on Sunday 13th August 2023 when they beat Blainroe Golf Club 7-up.
The Girls’ from Carton House Golf Club were Runners-Up in the All-Ireland Final of the Girls’ Inter-Club Championship on Wednesday 30th August 2023 at Castletroy Golf Club when they lost out to Forrest Little Golf Club by 2-matches to 1-match.
In the top match Amelie Cunningham (8) lost her match by the minimum against Grace Dowdall (16), she was followed by Alex Cunningham (26) who had a 3 and 2 win against Emma McDonagh (18) and in the bottom match Sinead Melville (33) lost her match against Amelia Lanagan (22) by 2-holes.
They met the Girls’ from Clandeboye Golf Club in the All-Ireland Semi-Final that morning and recorded a 2-match to 1-match win against Co. Down Club.
They were led out by Alex Cunningham (26) who had a confortable 5 and 4 win against Aimee Blair (15), next on the tee was Aoibhe Cunningham (31) who went up the 19th before relinquishing the point against Lucy Morrison (29) and in the bottom match Aoife Lyons (35) had a 2 and 1 win against Hanna Scott (41)
They were drawn against the Girls’ from Kinsale Golf Club in the All-Ireland Quarter-Finals the previous day and had a 2½-matches to ½-match win against the Co. Cork Club.

In the top match Nathan Talbot with Roisin Lyons lost their match by 3 and 2 against Brian Slattery with Isobel Hayes, they were followed by David Fulham with Geraldine O'Leary who had a 4 and 3 win against Oliver Carr with Margaret O'Connell, next on the tee was Adam Talbot with Alex Mallaghan who lost their match against Mark Talbot with Sheena Ryan by 5 and 3, in the penultimate match Gary Ludgate with Margaret O'Loughlin lost their match by the minimum against Brian Everard with Marie O’Neill and in the bottom match Alan Leamy with Susan O’Connor had a very confortable 6 and 5 win against Kevin Fitzgerald with Frances Boyle.

Marc Boucher was selected on the Carey Cup team that played the Metropolitan Golf Association selection at Winged Foot, New York from 19th and 20th October 2023, others on the team were Quentin Carew (Castleknock Golf Club), Jack Hearn (Tramore Golf Club), Darcy Hogg (Belvoir Park Golf Club), Jack McDonnell (Forrest Little Golf Club) and Robert Moran (Castle Golf Club).
Marc Boucher was selected to play at the Home Internationals at Machynys, Wales between 9th to the11th August 2023, the others on the team were Colm Campbell (Warrenpoint Golf Club), Paul Conroy (Enniscorthy Golf Club), Max Kennedy (Royal Dublin Golf Club), Alex Maguire (Laytown & Bettystown Golf Club), Robert Moran (Castle Golf Club), Liam Nolan (Galway Golf Club), Caolan Rafferty (Dundalk Golf Club) and David Shiel (Enniscrone Golf Club) they were coached by Michael Collins and John McKinstry from Cairndhu Golf Club and captained by Niall Mac Sweeney from Athenry Golf Club.
Colin Cunningham was selected for Ireland at the European Senior Team Championships played at RCG Mariánské Lázne in Czech Republic between 5th and 9th September 2023 the others on the team were Alan Condren (Greystones Golf Club), Noel Crawford (Mourne Golf Club), Jody Fanagan (Milltown Golf Club), Joe Lyons (Galway) Joe Lyons (Galway Golf Club) and Eddie McCormack (Galway Bay Golf Club) they were managed by Matt Donohue from Portumna Golf Club and captained by Brian Hutchinson from Donaghadee Golf Club.
Darragh Flynn was selected on the Munster Interprovincial Championship team at Moyvalley Golf Club from Tuesday 29th August to Thursday 31st August 2023.
Other members of the team were David Reddan (Nenagh Golf Club), Conor Hickey (Dooks Golf Club), Alex King (Faithlegg Golf Club), Mark Gazi & Darren O’Sullivan (Tralee Golf Club), Jordan Boles (Charleville Golf Club), Donnacha Cleary (Tipperary Golf Club).
They were Captained by Juan Fitzgerald (Limerick Golf Club) and Managed by Shane Horgan (Monkstown Golf Club).
Carton House Golf Club won their second All-Ireland Irish Senior Cup at Tramore Golf Club on Sunday 4th September 2022 when they beat Cushendall Golf Club by 4-matches to 1-match.
They were drawn against near neighbours Naas Golf Club in the All-Ireland Quarter-Final on the Saturday and cruised to a 4-matches to 1-match result.
In the top match of Marc Boucher against David Marshall Jnr. and the second match of Darragh Flynn against Robert Brazill were both recorded as halves when called-in, they were followed by Keith Egan who had a 4 and 3 win against Rob Fitzpatrick, in the penultimate match Colin Cunningham had a similar result against Luke Lynch and in the bottom match Paul O’Hanlon also had a 4 and 3 win against Michael Crowley.
They met Tandragee Golf Club the following morning and recorded another 4-matches to1-match win against the Co. Armagh Club.
Darragh Flynn led them out this time and recorded a halve against James Hewitt, he was followed by Marc Boucher who won his match against Jamie Stothers by the minimum, next on the tee was Keith Egan who also recorded a halve against William Small, in the penultimate match Aidan Dooley had a very convincing 7 and 5 over Ross Dutton and the bottom match Paul O’Hanlon secured the points with a 3 and 1 win against Stefan Greenberg.
In the afternoon they came up against Cushendall Golf Club and again won by the 4-matches to 1-match.
It was Aiden Dooley turn to lead them out and put the first point on the board with a 4 and 3 win against Cathal MacCanna, he was followed by Darragh Flynn who recorded a 6 and 4 win against Ronan McCambridge, Colin Cunningham halved his match against Christopher McLoughlin when called-in, in the penultimate match Keith Egan cruised to a 8 and 6 win against David Burns and the bottom match Paul O’Hanlon halved his match against Alistair McGregor.

The Boys' from Carton House Golf Club won the All-Ireland Fred Daly Trophy at Ballina Golf Club on Wednesday 23rd August 2022.
They were drawn against near neighbours Naas Golf Club in the All-Ireland Quarter-Final and beat them by 4-matches to 1-march. They met Limerick Golf Club the following day in the All-Ireland Semi-Final and had a 3½-matches to 1½ win against the Shannon-Siders.
They met Massereen Golf Club in the All-Ireland decider in the afternoon and won by 4-matches against the Co. Antrim side. They were led out John Cunningham who beat Noah Bickerstaff by 2 and 1, he was followed by Calum Ward who had a similar result against Michael Wilson, next on the tee was Nicholas McCormack who won by 1-hole against Thompson Gedge, the penultimate match of Leon Giblin against Scott McCabe was halved when called in as was the bottom match of Thomas Lanigan against Harvey McCabe.
Conor Stone was selected in the Irish Team for the European Team Championships for Golfers with a Disability at Koksijde Golf ter Hille, Belgium from 9th to 11th June 2022, the others on the squad were Alan Gaynor (Co. Sligo Golf Club), Aidan Grenham (Ballinasloe Golf Club) and Brendan Lawlor (Dundalk Golf Club) they were captained by Gareth McNeilly from Massereene Golf Club.

Carton House Golf Club won their first All-Ireland Irish Senior Cup at Co. Donegal Golf Club when they beat Ulster Champions Belvoir Park Golf Club by 3½- matches to 1½-matches on Saturday 12th June 2021.
First on the tee was Marc Boucher who edged out Gareth Lappin 2 and 1 in the top match, he was followed by Keith Egan who lost his match by 2 and 1 to Simon Ward, next up was Eoin Sullivan who won his match against Scott Jones by 3 and 2, in the penultimate match Darragh Flynn halved his match against D Hogg and in the bottom match former East of Ireland winner Paul O’Hanlon defeated David Shaw by 4 and 2.

On the 4th of October 2020 at Naas Golf Club they beat Dun Laoghaire Golf Club by a comfortable 4½-matches to ½-match in the Leinster Semi-Final and met The Royal Dublin Golf Club in the decider in the afternoon in a very closely fought match with two matches going to tie holes.
They were led out by Keith Egan who won his match 3 and 2 against Richard Knightly, he was followed by Marc Boucher who secured the point on the 20th hole against Robbie Hynes, next on the tee was Darragh Flynn who lost his match against Hugh Foley by 3 and 2, in the penultimate match Paul O’Hanlon went up the 21st before dismissing Sean Ryan the bottom match of Colin Cunningham against Shaun Carter was halved.
Carton House Golf Club won the Leinster Final of the Irish Senior Cup when they beat Enniscorthy Golf Club by 4-matches to 1-match at Blainroe Golf Club on Sunday 25 August 2019.
They were led out by Eoin Sullivan who beat A. Jordan by 4 and 3, he was followed by Keith Egan who had a 3 and 2 win over Paul Conroy, next on the tee was Paul O’Hanlon who beat Jason Rackard by 2 and 1, in the penultimate match Darragh Flynn had a 5 and 4 win over D Donohue and the bottom match of D. Morgan went 7 and 5 to Graham Donohue for the Wexford team.
They now make their way to Westport Golf Club to participate in the All-Ireland deciders.
They met Ulster Champions Massereene Golf Club in the All-Ireland Semi-Final on Saturday 21st September and recorded an 3-matches to 2-matches win against the Antrim team.
In the top match Des Morgan lost his match against Tiarnan McLarnon by 2-holes, in the next match Darragh Flynn won his match by 3 and 2 against Dale Jackson, he was followed by Keith Egan who beat Derek Turkington by 4 and 3, in the penultimate match Eoin Sullivan lost out to Ewan McArthur by 3 and 2 and in the bottom match Paul O’Hanlon had a 2-hole win against Ryan McCullagh.
They met Connacht Champions Galway Golf Club in the National Decider and lost by 3-matches to 2-matches the following day.
They were led out this time by Keith Egan who had a 4 and 3 win against Eddie McCormack, he was followed by Darragh Flynn who lost his match against Luke O’Neill by 3 and 2, he was followed by Gary McDermott who lost his match by 1-hole against Ronan Mullarney, in the penultimate match Des Morgan lost out by the minimum against Joe Lyons and the bottom match Paul O’Hanlon went down to Liam Nolan by 5 and 4.
The Ladies of Carton House Golf Club were Runners-Up in Intermediate Cup All-Ireland Final at Malone Golf Club when they lost out to Cahir Park Golf Club by 3-matches to 2-matches in 2017.
They were led out by Emma Fox who went up the 19th before securing the point against Susan Carey, she was followed by Maura Bruton who lost out by 7 and 5 to Michelle Keating, next on the tee was Siobhan Plunkett recorded a 2 and 1 win over Breda Keating, in the penultimate match Ros McCarthy lost her match against Joanne Quaid-Noonan by 2 and 1 and in the bottom match Ann McQuillan brought Patricia Browne up the 23rd before relinquishing the point and the Green Pennant to the Munster Champions.
They won the East Leinster Final at Charlesland Golf Club on Sunday 3rd September when the beat Castle Golf Club by 3-matches to 2-matches.
Anne Webb led them out and had a bad day against Catriona Horgan when going down by 7 and 5, next on the tee was Maura Bruton who had a 2 and 1 win over Carmel Gleeson, she was followed by Sarah Taaffe who lost out to Anne Thornton by 7 and 5, in the penultimate match Siobhan Plunkett went up the 19th before recording the point and in the bottom match Ann McQuillan had a very comfortable 7 and 5 win over Fiona Shackleton.
Carton House Golf Club won the Leinster Final of the Barton Shield when they beat Laytown & Bettystown Golf Club by 4-holes in the Semi-Final and UCD Golf Club by 3-holes in the decider at Howth Golf Club on Sunday 30th July 2016.
With the All-Ireland deciders on their home course they drew Connacht Champions Galway Golf Club in the All-Ireland Semi-Final on Wednesday 14th September.
They were led out by Gary McDermott with Alan Egan who lost out to Ronan Mullarney with Liam Power by 4-holes they were followed by J. Doherty with Paul O’Hanlon who had a 3-hole win over Joe Lyons with Cathal Nolan. So near yet so far, Galway went on and went down to a very strong Ulster Champions Warrenpoint Golf Club by 4-holes.
Carton House Golf Club won the Irish Junior Foursomes Leinster Final at Greystones Golf Club in 2015.
The team was, Dean Cafferty, Ryan Eccles, Bill Hannan and Eoin Sullivan. They were managed by John Ferriter.
Carton House Golf Club won the All Ireland Fred Daly Trophy at Warrenpoint Golf Club on Thursday 28th August 2014, when they beat Galway Golf Club by 4-matches to 3-matches.
They were led by David Carey who beat Colm Hughes by 3 and 1, next up was Marc Boucher who had a comfortable 6 and 4 win over Cathal Nolan, he was followed by Sean Walsh who lost his match against Michael O’Farrell by 2-holes, Oisin Devereux had a narrow 1-hole defeat against Paddy Culhane, next on the tee was Dean Cafferty who went all the way to the 20th before securing his match against Mikey Burke, in the penultimate match Darragh Walsh secured the green pennant with a 2 and 1 win over Sean Burke, the bottom match went to the boy’s from Salthill when Cian Hutchinson lost to Eoin Griffin by 4 and 3.
They played Ulster Champions Lurgan Golf Club in the All-Ireland Semi-Final when they recorded a comfortable 6-matches to 1-match win, David Carey was first on the tee and won his match against Caolan McCann by 1-hole, he was followed by Marc Boucher who also had a 1-hole win over Peter Cummins, next up was Sean Walsh who recorded a 2 an 1 win over Jason McCann, Oisin Devereux had a comfortable 5 and 4 win over Ronan McGivern, he was followed by Dean Cafferty who beat Conal Patterson by 6 and 5, the bottom two matches between Darragh Walsh against Nathan McCann and Cian Hutchinson against Conor McDonald were both halved when called in.

McGlynn who won his match against Michael McDermott by 4 and 3 he was followed by D. Carey who went all the way to the 21st before relinquishing the point to Enda Kennedy next up was Niall McGlynn who lost his match against Donal Boyle by 3 and 1 the penultimate match of Sean O’Connor against Frank Casey Jnr. was a decisive 6 and 4 win for the North Donegal team and with it their place in the All-Ireland Final the bottom match of Colin Cunningham against Patrick Kennedy was halved when called in.
Carton House Golf Club won the Leinster Final of the Fred Daly Trophy when they beat Bray Golf Club by 4 ½-matches to 2 ½-matches at Killeen Golf Club on Monday 25th July 2011.
They went on to win the All-Ireland Final at Ardee Golf Club on Tuesday 16th August when they beat Co. Sligo Golf Club by 5½-matches to 1½-matches. They met Ulster Champions Balmoral Golf Club in the All-Ireland Semi-Final. First on the tee was Conor Glynn who lost to Matthew McLean by 1-hole, next up was Keith Egan who beat Stuart Bleakley by 5 and 4, next up was Harry Coyne who beat Daniel Carlin by 1-hole, Sean O'Connor was next and he had a 5 and 4 win over Aidan Cochrane, next up was Marc Boucher who beat Patrick Brennan by 6 and 4, the penultimate match of Sean Walsh against Ryan Straney was halved, the bottom match of Adam Talbot against Ted Harmon was also recorded as being halved.
They met Connacht Champions Co. Sligo Golf Club in the All-Ireland Final, they were led again by Conor Glynn who had a 1-hole victory against Sean Flanagan, he was followed by Keith Egan who beat Declan Reidy by 5 and 4, next on the tee was Harry Coyne who beat Alan Gaynor by 1-hole, Sean O'Connor was next and he recorded a 2 and 1 win over David Brady, Marc Boucher halved his match with Thomas Finnegan, the penultimate and bottom matches of Sean Walsh against Conor Harte and Conor Gorovan against T. J. Ford were also halved. The result gave Carton House Golf Club their first green pennant in the short history of this young club and remarkably they went on to win the European Championship what an achievement for such a young club.
Ken Murray (11) teamed up with David Kelly from Boyle Golf Club (18) to qualify with 43 pts. at Druid's Heath in the National Final of the O2 All-Ireland Masters. They qualified for the Grand Final played at the Kempinski Resort Hotel, Estepona, Spain in October 2004. They set out for the 5* Hotel on 9th October where having played a practice round they then went on to compete in the Grand Final over four days.
