Connemara Isles golf club Galway
Connemara Isles Golf Course
This unique Island course, located in the heart of the Connemara Gaeltacht, is joined to the mainland by a causeway at Bealadangan. Designed by Tom Craddock and Pat Ruddy and opened in 1995, it is a 9-hole course with 18 tee boxes, measuring 5,260 yards par-70 with a standard scratch of 67.
Set in the distractingly beautiful location where ocean inlets and rocky outcrops provide natural hazards demanding concentration and steady nerves. The 3rd green, 4th hole and 5th fairway, are on an island of their own, with water everywhere. The beginner will be introduced to what golf is all about on this natural costal golf course.
Connemara Isles boasts the only thatched clubhouse in Ireland, where a very warm welcome is extended to all visitors. For golfers wishing to brush up on their Irish the members are only too willing to converse in the National language.
Societies are welcome and group rates are available.

History of Connemara Isles
Founded 1995
The thatched seaside clubhouse is the ancestral home of the founders of the Connemara Isles Golf Club John, Tony and Cathal Lynch
Their great grandfather built the house in 1850 when he returned from America as one of the survivors of the ill-fated emigrant Famine ship the Brig St. John. The Brig St. John was wrecked on rocks near Boston Harbour in Cape Cod in October 1849, having only left Galway the previous month with 120 on board.
You will see ruins of pre-famine houses near the sixth green.
The sea around the golf course is famous for it natural oyster and scallop beds. During the summer you can enjoy the traditional boating festivals from Currach racing to Hooker racing. This area offers you a unique opportunity to experience the Conamara culture at its finest.
