History of Gracehill

Gracehill House History
Gracehill House was built in c.1775 by King James Stuart, who named it after his wife, Grace Lynd. King James, who sadly died on his way to Ireland when his ship sank in the treacherous Irish Sea, passed the estate onto his grandson, William Stuart. It then remained in the Stuart family for many years. In 1872 James Stewart Irwin was the owner. The house was bought in 1955 by Major Windsor, who had married a Chichester of Galgorm, bought from him by the Gillan family in 1971, who then turned the landscape into an 18-hole championship golf course in 1995.
Golf at Gracehill House
Gracehill Golf Course is considered to be one of the top parkland courses in Ulster, if not all Ireland. If you enjoy a peaceful and leisurely walk through the Irish countryside, then come and visit us. Nestling in beautiful mature parkland outside the village of Stranocum near Ballymoney.
Some of the greens are strategically placed near to water hazards while other holes are played through mature woodland or over heathland making it one of the few courses in Ireland to offer such variety.
