Glencullen. Club Crest

Glencullen Golf Club is an 9-hole Parkland located at the top of the Dublin Wicklow Mountains offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, together with Dublin Bay and Howth Head. Opened in 1997 it measures 5,060 metres with a Par 69 and a standard scratch of 66 off the men's tees. The ladies course is somewhat shorter at 4,670 m with a Par of 70 and SSS 69.

Although a 9-hole course Glencullen has alternating tee-boxes giving the golfer the distinct impression that he or she have played 18 totally different holes. The signature hole at Glencullen is undoubtedly the 9th where your second shot is played over a lake to a well-protected green.

A warm welcome awaits the visitor in the clubhouse after what should have been a breathtaking and memorable round of golf.

History of Glencullen.

Set in the heart of the Dublin Mountains, Glencullen Golf Course is overlooked only by the Giant's Grave that is situated in the woodland left of the fifth fairway. The Giant’s Grave is a Bronze Age Wedge Tomb which was excavated in the 1940s when cremated bone, a polished stone hammer, flints and pottery were found.
Since the Club was formed in 1997, it is safe to say that this course has matured into a local favourite. Over the years there have been many subtle changes to the layout of the course in order to keep challenging the competitors and continue to make it enjoyable to play all year round. Despite its altitude and exposure to the elements, it remains open throughout the entire year.
Once you reach the signature holes at the top of the course, your scoring is immaterial as the panoramic surround takes control. To the left you are indulged in some of the finest views over Dublin Bay, straight in front of you is the leafy suburb that is the Dalkey / Killiney triangle and to your right is the Wicklow frontier with its own mountain range rolling into the distance and beyond. On a clear day the mountains of Wales can be seen across the Irish Sea.
At the centre of Glencullen Village is Johnnie Fox's Pub, which was established in 1798, the year of the Irish Rebellion led by Theobald Wolfe Tone. It is claimed to be the highest pub in Ireland. It was used by the 1916 Rebellion leaders as a meeting place and is now the home to the famous ‘Hooley Show’.
