Ardglass Golf Course

Ardglass Club Crest

18-hole seaside course, Par 70 with championship standard, greens. The first five holes, with the Irish Sea and cliffs tight to the left should be treated with respect, and anything resembling a hook will meet with disaster.

The second hole is a daunting Par 3. Your tee-shot must carry a cliff and canyon and that’s the easy part of the hole. While standing on the tee-box a superb view of the Mountains of Mourne should not be missed. Plenty of distractions if the golf is not up to scratch.

In the heart of the local fishing village lies, this spectacular course, situated 30-miles, south of Belfast. This is an ideal venue for your golf outing, be it a sociable Fourball, Society or Corporate Outing.

When arriving at the Course, be prepared to be, overwhelmed by the panoramic views of the Irish Sea and on a clear day the Isle of Man can be seen in the distance.

The visitor can relax in the comfort of the luxurious Lounge and sample the mouth watering fresh local fish. Bar snacks are available but if your preference is a la carte the best of Irish home cooking is there at your request.

Ardglass Golf Club offers a special welcome to Societies and Corporate Outings and special discounts for groups.

Paul Vaughan’s pro shop is fully stocked with everything the golfer needs for his/her round of golf.

The inaugural meeting of the club was healed in the local courthouse on 28th April 1896, the Rev. Thomas Macafee presided, where a committee was elected, headed by Dr. McComiskey to draw up rules and make the necessary arrangements. On 6th June, another meeting was held and W. P. Martin was elected Captain and B. N. Johnson was elected President.

Ladies were involved in the club from the very beginning. The "Belfast Newsletter" lists the various subscriptions, which has the Ladies’ sub at ten shillings and six pence.

The "Golf and Sportsman Holiday Guide" 1897 reads "a sporting little course of seven holes, distance about three quarters of a mile…a new clubhouse is in the course of erection"
