Members Achievements

Roe Park Golf Club reached the All-Ireland Quarter-Finals at Oughterard Golf Club on Saturday 14th September 2024 when they lost out to Castlebar Golf Club by 3-matches to 1-match. They were led out by Derek Powell with Ann Kearney who halved their match against Mark Corrigan with Margaret Tighe, they were followed by Fintan Curley with Estelle Rose and lost their match by 4 and 3 against John Kelly with Derval Molloy, in the penultimate match Charlie Mearns with Hailey Rose lost out by 7 and 6 against Sean Haugh with Gina Kelly and the bottom match of Marius Deehan with Carol Scott was halved against Gary Canny with Deidre Moylette.

The Ladies from Roe Park Golf Club won the Australian Spoons All-Ireland Final 2024 played at County Longford Golf Club on 26th August 2024 when Melanie Turner and Rhonda McClelland shot 38 points to record a 2 point victory over East Cork’s Lillian Harrington and Deirdre O’Mahony winners of the 38 point total and a  (better back nine) while hometown defending champions Anne Casey and Ann Gregg of County Longford finished third.

Melanie Turner and Rhonda McClelland won the Australian Spoons All-Ireland Final in August 2024 played at County Longford Golf Club with 38-points beating Lillian Harrington and Deirdre O’Mahony from East Cork Golf Club and Anne Casey with Ann Gregg of County Longford Golf Club by 2-points.

Roe Park continued their success in the Ulster Final of the Pierce Purcell Shield when they won again in 2001. They went on to play the Munster Champions Kanturk in the All-Ireland Semi-Final at Newlands Golf Club on 20th September. They were well beaten by Kanturk Golf Club the All-Ireland Champions final. The team was Graham Allen with Bob Purcill, Alan Rankin with Cecil Holmes, Philip McKeever with Charles Mearns, Rab Lyttle with Peter Green and Mark Nicholl with Michael Mullan.

Prior to 2001:

Roe Park won the Ulster Final of the Pierce Purcell Shield when they beat Ballybofey & Stranorlar. They went on to meet Portumna in the All-Ireland semi-final at Lahinch, on 21st September 2000. The squad was Geoff Miller, Derek Simpson, Rowan Crockett, Richard Nicholl, Lawrence McKeever, Sammy Murphy, Sammy Dixon, Philip McIlrath, Richard Green and Bob Purcell. They beat Portumna 3 to 2 in the Semi-Final and went on to win the National Final when they beat Beech Park 3.5 to 1.5 in the final. The team was R. Little with Philip McIlrath, Lawrence McKeever with A. Rankin, Sammy Dixon with Richard Green, Sammy Murphy with Bob Purcell and L. Mulgrew with Rowan Crockett. This was a wonderful win for a club so young.
